Chamber Players
Classroom Presentations
The Chamber Player Ensemble's goal is to introduce elementary school students in Southern Oregon to classical music. The group is comprised of five performers from the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra, Larry Stubson, violin, Arlene Tayloe, violin, Pat Berlet, viola, and Dave Miller, bass, Judy Bjorlie, cello.
During a five-month period of the school year they will visit over 50 schools in the Rogue Valley and Klamath Falls. Each year, the group picks a theme that children can relate to easily. This year's theme is Sounds of Water, and includes music of Smetana, Vivaldi, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Offenbach and Strauss. In this presentation the Chamber Players discuss the origin and characteristics of the pieces and how they relate to or sound like water. The program is presented in an intimate setting, with the performers in chairs encircled by no more than 100 children at a time. The concert includes music and instrument introduction, performance, and a question and answer period. This program is sponsored by Ashland Rotary Community, The Carpenter Foundation, The Collins Foundation, PGE, Washington Mutual and Wells Fargo as well as many private contributors.
If you would like to support the Chamber Players' school performances, please contact the Rogue Valley Symphony Office at (541) 552-6354 or by emailing office@rvsymphony.org.

During each presentation, a student who correctly answers a question about the music wins two tickets to a Rogue Valley Symphony concert!
Students are given an opportunity to ask the musicians questions about
the music they have heard, the instruments, and what it's like to be a
musician.
