Discovery Concert
The Rogue Valley Symphony Association is pleased to offer the Discovery Concert free of charge, as part of its many efforts to educate youth and encourage audiences to attend live symphony orchestra performances. Admission is FREE. Families are encouraged to attend with youth aged five and older.
The Discovery Concert is a great opportunity to introduce newcomers to an orchestra concert. The performance will be approximately one hour long, and will include comments by the conductor to explain what to listen for in the music.

This year's Discovery Concert
Saturday morning, January 30, 2010, at South Medford High School
How
do just twelve little same-old-same-old notes make all that marvelous
orchestral sound? We invite you and your family to find out when Artistic
Advisor David Mackenzie and singer-actor Christine Williams present the
ingenious Mr. Smith’s Bowl of Notes, a delightfully
fresh voyage of musical discovery. This fun-filled family event includes
a hands-on instrument petting zoo, along with time to meet the musicians
and see them demonstrate their instruments before the concert.
Plan to arrive early for the “instrument petting zoo” at 9:30 am in the lobby of South Medford High School auditorium. Musicians from different sections of the orchestra will give demonstrations, answer questions, and provide a close up viewing of their instruments. Don’t miss this unique opportunity for an insider’s view of the orchestra!
The Discovery Concert is open seating, with admission on a first come, first served basis. South Medford High School will open its doors for seating at 9:30 am and the concert will start at 10:30 am.
